When Extreme Makeover: Home Edition approached us to participate on their show, we were excited about the opportunity to help out a family in need. We were also excited about the challenge of providing the same high quality work that we normally do at the insane pace necessary to get in and out as quickly as possible, so the other guys could get their work done.
All the plans were laid out weeks in advance, but as you saw on the show, the weather had different plans and made a challenging job almost impossible. However, every trade worked together under the supervision of Pete Vicari to avoid total chaos. Everyone knew that we had to complete the house in a week, so everyone gave it their all.
I have hung paper in many ways, but never in rubber boots. They seemed to be the uniform of the week. My son, Denny, and I did our best to make sure that our part was completed in a timely manner. Our reward was to see the look on the family's faces when the doors opened to their new home.
